• The grinding of crank pin no. 02 was started with a specially designed crankshaft grinding machine that can undertake grinding of crank pin of 130 mm diameter and can also sit on crankpin width of 56 mm only.

Considering the maximum ovality of 0.76 mm and the deep line marks observed on crank pins we had no option but to under size all the 5 crank pins to 143.00 mm i.e. 2 mm under size in comparison to the standard diameter of 145.00 mm.

·  As a matter of caution, our technicians inspected all the connecting rods and their big end bore was polished.

• All the crankpins were undersized by 0.40 mm as per the manufacturer recommendation and final size was maintained between 144.58 to 144.60 mm with ovality of maximum 0.02 mm.

·         The deflection and visual inspection was done and was found acceptable within limits.
